From the Designer:

The Song of Summer was first published in the beautiful Japanese embroidery magazine Stitch Idees. I’m really happy to finally present this design to you in this form. For the pattern, I took inspiration from 18th and 19th-century Dutch woodblock penny prints, usually with popular verses and stories about famous people at the time,
and often decorated with primitive folklore patterns in elaborate floral borders. At the centre is a little bird - though his appearance is humble and though he is but small, his song will carry through the air and move those who hear it.
