About the countdown: The Evertote, Roxy Floss Co, and Modern Folk Embroidery Holiday Countdown is a 25-day mystery stitch-a-long hosted by Caroline from December 1st to December 25th. The full countdown kit includes new fabric and 25 skeins of floss from Roxy Floss Co to accompany daily cards that each reveal a new part of the design by Modern Folk Embroidery over 25 days. The box also includes a few extra surprises along the way! 

ERRATA - 

Day 1 - border error on bottom ride side. It should match what is charted on the left side. See my Day 1 video on Off the Grid Needlearts for more clarity. Symbols do not match key. See below for link to updated key chart.

Day 2 - border error is not corrected - see Day 1 for correction

Day 15 - extra 3 stitches in the border top right side are incorrect - do not stitch.

 

Design details: The final design measures 113 stitches wide by 137 stitches long and has a total of 5,266 stitches. Daily stitch counts range from 180 - 240 stitches. 

Fabric requirements: The 2025 Holiday Countdown design can fit on a wide eighth (13x18in) piece of linen/evenweave, or on a wide sixth (13x18in) of aida. You should orient your fabric in "portrait position", meaning that the fabric is tall and skinny. 

  • When stitching on 28ct linen or 14ct aida, you will have a 2 inch border. 
  • When stitching on 32ct linen or 16ct aida, you will have a 2.5 inch border.
  • When stitching on 36ct linen, 18ct aida or higher, you will have a 3 inch border.

Floss requirements: While the full countdown kit includes 25 colours and the chart itself has 25 symbols, you can use as few or as many colours as you'd like. If you choose to stitch this chart as a monochromatic piece, you will need two 8-yard skeins of floss when stitching 1 over 2, or four 8-yard skeins of floss when stitching 2 over 2.

Stitch-A-Long and Bonus Videos: Daily videos will be uploaded to Caroline's YouTube channel, Off the Grid Needlearts, at 7am EST each day. A preliminary video with day 1 prep will also be uploaded to Caroline's channel on Sunday, November 30.

Jacob of Modern Folk Embroidery will also be posting videos most, if not all, days on his own channel.

Spoilers: As we have many people around the globe participating in the 2024 Holiday Countdown, we ask that you do not post photos of new floss/design elements until after 1pm EST each day. This equates to 6pm UTC, 10am PST, and 4:30am ACDT. 

Floss Releases: Any extras of each day's floss will be released for general sale the day after. So day 1 will be released on Dec 2, etc.

Fabric Release: The Roxy Floss Co "Vanilla Custard" fabric that is included in the 2025 Holiday Countdown will be available for general sale in the new year.

I'd like to buy this design as a PDF: A PDF of this design will be available for general sale directly from Modern Folk Embroidery in 2026.
