From the Designer:

The Bird Feeder is a pattern that grew very organically. I had an image in my head of a lady dressed in her finest clothes, wearing a huge floral ornament on her head - her dress so richly embroidered that she becomes a part of the garden. She feeds the little birds, and they eat right out of her hands as she has nearly become one with her natural environment.

I started with the head decoration, and from there the pattern just grew. I kept making tiny corrections, but overall, this design just flowed pretty easily.

Then I got the idea to write a short poem dedicated to this lady as well. In my mind, this beautiful old lady goes out every morning and feeds the birds who thank her in return by singing to her from a willow tree. I wrote it in the style of 19th-century short poems. I hope you will enjoy both the pattern and the little poem!
