If stitching on 28ct, 32ct, or 36ct linen, you will need a wide quarter to stitch this chart.  If stitching on 40ct linen, you can fit this on a wide eighth, however you will only have a 2 inch border on the short side of the fabric. If stitching on 46ct linen, you will need a wide eighth to stitch this chart.

From the Designer:

The Big Ship takes inspiration from the embroideries of the island of Marken in the Netherlands. Marken, in turn, appears to have drawn inspiration from the embroideries of towns in the Waterland region (particularly Broek in Waterland).

For this design, I created three unique border designs (the central ones are mirrored). At the centre is the motif of a big ship - a common theme on Dutch and Frisian samplers. When I designed this pattern, I was also thinking of a Dutch expression for getting married - to step into the Wedding Ship. Many different symbolist meanings have been given to the ship - from a representation of life itself, hope, but also of marriage. The design would make for a great wedding gift, with the couple’s initials on either side of the pair standing in the crow’s nest. I put a lady and a gentleman at the top, but you can make any configuration you like!
