The Modern Folk Embroidery 2026 SAL - Little Acorns- is a folklore style design with mainly full crosses, some backstitch, and some optional eyelets. This design can be stitched vertically or horizontally.

When joining the SAL, please use the hashtag #MFESAL2026 so we can all follow and admire each other's work!

The vertical version of the chart measures 181 stitches wide and 389 stitches high.
The horizontal version of the chart measures 361 stitches wide and 195 stitches high.

FLOSS REQUIREMENTS

This monochromatic design has a total of 26336 crosses and 4078 backstitches. 

The cover photo of the chart shows a digital mock up of this design stitched with red floss on a light neutral fabric. Here are some suggestions for different thread/fabric combinations:

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

For the vertical version:
  • If stitching on 28 or 32ct linen, you will need a half yard.
  • If stitching on 36ct linen, you can fix this on a wide quarter, but you will only have a 2.25 inch border on the long side of the fabric.
  • If stitching on 40 or 46ct linen, you will need a wide quarter.
For the horizontal version:
  • If stitching on 28 or 32ct linen, you will need a half yard.
  • If stitching on 36, 40, or 46ct linen, you will need a wide quarter.
