From the Designer:
Whenever I go for a walk in our neighbourhood in Rotterdam, I come across a great deal of lovely 1930s buildings. We are, in fact, lucky enough to live in one of those. Sadly, our building does not have super cool stone reliefs, as some of the other buildings do.
This week, after releasing the 2027 MFE SAL (“Song of Orpheus”, inspired by Greek mythology), I walked past one of those houses that had a wonderful relief featuring Pegasus, the winged horse.
I knew right off the bat that I wanted to turn this into a design. So I sat down and started designing. It quickly grew into a much larger design featuring the horse, a traditional meander border and several border and corner motifs seen on ancient Grecian artworks. I placed Pegasus against a starry sky, since Pegasus is not only a flying horse but also a constellation visible in the northern sky.
