From the Designer:
Blythe Spirits (not to be confused with the Noël Coward play Blythe Spirit) was first published several years ago in a Dutch magazine called Borduurblad. I wanted to create something for their Spring issue that captured a sense of carefree cheerfulness - whilst still looking at the rather strict language of traditional folk embroidery. I settled on the name Blythe Spirits for this pattern as I liked the mystery of it. As I write this, Spring appears to have finally made its way into the Netherlands, and each morning, I love listening to the song of all these little joyful birds in the city, singing and flying through the air like spirits of nature, promising warmer days yet to come.
